But, no, I'm not as free as you thought I would be,
there's still quite a plenty of things on-hand that I should really be doing right now.
So let's first tick this off the list : Blog about Penang trip.
It was a very last minute trip, I even booked the hotel 4 days before we depart
Since it's the off-peak period, I still had a handful of choices by then.
So here goes my Penang/Ipoh 3d2n trip!
Day 1
CAT FREE HOP ON BUS
Busy Bodhi Cafe

And yiharn said I must go and try China House Tiramisu and so we did.
It's huge!
But the architecture and interior in this long shophouse is more superb.
It's the same typical traditional china shophouses we usually see in Malacca.

Walk from the front until the very end with the sprained ankle, and it's all worth it.
What a view at the back! Love love love.

Friday - Saturday 9am - 1am
Went to the 美食街 that day being told it's very big with wide variety of food
and again get disappointed...........
It's so small, but
nevermind we still get yummy foods, and the people are all so friendly. :)
Georgetown is beautiful at night too
But the crowd disappear as soon as the sun sets.
It quiets down so quickly.
So apparently, there's not much night life at night,
the most crowded place at night
should be the food courts and 24 hour nasi kandar. hahaha
Day 2
Next morning, woke up at 9am.
And then walked to Chowrasta market.
We found this kopitiam in the alley.

And yes, their coffee is one of the nicest I tried in Penang.
The half-boiled egg in the lil cup. so cute right
The toast is not bad too. :)

Just some alley I saw and thought it's beautiful.

Penang Road Famous Teochew Cendol
27, Lebuh Keng Kwee, Georgetown, 10100 Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
I used to drool at the sight of this on the internet, but it's all in the past now.
This is seriously
I think our family favourite cendol in Seremban is billions more times better than this.
Someone told me The Camera Museum is worth a go, and indeed.
And one of the wall painting is just next to it.
The staff at the museum showed us the place when he overheard our discussions
about the whereabouts of the rest of the wall paintings.
Yes, penang people are friendly!
RM 20 for adults
RM 10 for students and senior citizens
I was over thrilled by the fact that I still get student price, like finally T.T
Remember the days when we get student price for almost errthing,
movie tics, karaoke, all sorts of tickets.....Ah, gone were the days..
Double Exposure Cafe in The Camera Museum
errr... don't try the cheesecake......

Mama-mia Coconut ice-cream.
It's still too early to head to Penang Hill, so we found a place to rest a bit.
Air-conditioned is a must at the time.
We are at The Rustic Heritage Cafe btw.
Georgetown has all sorts of cafe popping out, like Malacca.
They renovated the shophouses, turned them concept cafe, like Malacca.
You can see creativity everywhere, like Malacca.
Basically, Georgetown is more or less like Malacca,
Just that Georgetown has wall paintings and busier traffic, (and hotter weather?)
Took bus to Penang Hill.
It's my second visit, but I have zero memory towards this place.
'Cause the first time I was in Penang, I had a fever
and I only recovered on the last day.
And this time round, I had a sprained ankle.
Have I ever do you wrong, Penang? Why.
There's a 360 degree panaroma viewing tower in construction.
The Love Lock bridge is also......hahaha
Maybe I should just name this trip as Bubble Bursting Trip.
Nice sunset view at the back of the hindu temple on Penang Hill.
It's quite foggy by the time we were there,
but we decided to wait for the sun to set for the night view.
And I had a chance to try out my camera's manual setting. hehehe
Gurney Driveeee
Comfy right ~~
RM220 for 2 nights :)
Air-con, heater, hair dryer (upon request), and TV with astro somemore!
It's very near to Komtar, 2 mins walk.
And there's a lot of shopping mall within walking distance.
Like 1st Avenue, Penang Times Square, Komtar, Prangin Mall.
118 Hotel Penang

Day 3
Woke up at 10 like a boss.
The perks of travelling on your own, free and easy.
And we had 2 good night sleep there too.
It's been awhile for me to sleep through the whole night.
'Cause we are dead tired thanks for all the mad walking?
Breakfast at Restoran Zim Sum
35, Jalan Anson, Penang, George Town, 10400
Monday to Sunday 630am - 100pm
And part 2 breakfast at Ah Lai Kopitiam,
also known as Kopitiam under the big tree.
Erm, another
And brace yourself for the shitty service too.
The look-nice-but-don't-taste-so-nice toast
Okay, so we bid farewell to Georgetown with this shitty attitude kopitiam. -.-
Ah Lai Kopitiam
15, Gat Lebuh Gereja,

IPOH IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE. LIKE REALLY.
As I drove down from Penang to Ipoh,
I was amazed by the view along the highway.
I didn't know Malaysia has such majestic mountain view along our highway, until that day.
Is it because I was always sleeping when I'm not the driver....?
Ipoh is so beautiful, I just had to say it again.
Decided to stop at Ipoh for lunch.
"Google search sia, where's the best ngah choy gai"
Hahaha, and it leads us to Lou Wong Ngah Choy Gai
and it really was nice. :)
Btw, Nga Choi means beansprout 芽菜 , Gai means chicken 鸡. so it's beansprout chicken.

Lou Wong Nga Choi Gai
30000, 49, Jalan Yau Tet Shin, 30000 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia

And then 土产shopping around there,
less than 30 mins and we already spent like almost RM300. #tourist
See how important it is to develop our tourism business?
See how much money we can earn that easily?
Okay, so this is literally the most fascinating place we went throughout the whole trip.
We need to drive a little distance from Ipoh Town, but it's worth it.
The Ghostly Cloister.
The whole building is still not complete.
You can Google for the whole story.
It's my first time seeing such weird combination of architecture.
The form of the building basically takes after the Neo-classical style.
But the arches are definitely not from the same styles,
The horseshoe arch (or keyhole arch) and pointed arch (or ogival arch)
is a key element of Moorish Architecture styles, one of the branch of Islamic Architecture style.
So it's like western architecture mix with Islamic architecture? I never thought of this though.
And I did some study, so there's this 2 architectural styles:
Moorish Revival & Indo-Saracenic Revival
Generally, it's made up of elements from native Indo-Islamic and Indian architecture, and combined it with the Gothic revival and Neo-Classical styles favoured in Victorian Britain.
I was like Wow, new input. Hahahaha
Cursped Arches / Scalloped Arches (Influenced by Moorish Architecture)
I don't know about you, but I've never seen this cute arch before.
Photo credits to beloved Jayd Wei (Name macam yes),
whose photography skills has improved rapidly in this 3d2n trip HAHAHA
Somehow, it ended up like a history of architecture presentation. Forgive me, hahaha.
It was worth a visit for me, obviously.
But to those who don't get all the architecture blah,
You could just go and take a look, it's a beautiful place
and also you can take all the macam yes photo here. Hahaha
Here, have some of my face.
Georgetown, in a summary, is a beautiful place.
It's picture taking > food hunting kind of place, to me.
So, if you've never been there, then you should.
But if you ask me for a second visit, maybe not in a while.
I would prefer Malacca for a getaway, either for food hunting or just a relaxing getaway.
Anyway, I have been talking about wanting to go to Penang for a while now.
No, more like 2 years. -.-
And so I finally get to cross it off the list now!
So long, Georgetown, see you when I see you ~
